About
About Your Hosts – Ron & Elaine Butler
Aberarthen Farm is hosted by Ron and Elaine Butler, who have spent their entire lives working on farmland. For Ron and Elaine, farming isn’t just an occupation – it’s a way of life, shaped by the seasons, the land, and a deep respect for nature.
Before moving to West Wales, Ron and Elaine ran a highly successful Bed and Breakfast in Scotland, welcoming guests from across the UK and Europe. Their B&B became particularly popular with European visitors, including many guests from the Netherlands, who returned year after year for the warm welcome, peaceful setting, and personal touches that made their stay memorable.
From Scotland to West Wales
After many years in Scotland, Ron and Elaine decided it was time for a change. Farming life there, while rewarding, was hard and demanding, and they began looking for somewhere that offered a slower pace and a more relaxed lifestyle.
West Wales felt like the perfect fit.
The gentler landscape, longer growing seasons, and strong connection to nature drew them to Aberarthen Farm, where they could continue working the land while creating a place where guests could truly unwind. Here, surrounded by fields, woodland, and open skies, they have found the balance they were looking for – and they love sharing it with others.
A Host Experience Built on Care and Simplicity
Ask Ron what makes Aberarthen Farm special, and the answer is simple: the land, the views, and the feeling of being immersed in nature.
Guests don’t just stay in accommodation – they experience the farm itself. From peaceful walks across the fields and through ancient woodland, to stunning views stretching towards the Preseli Mountains, Aberarthen Farm offers space to breathe and reconnect with the outdoors.
Nature is always close. Red kites regularly feed in the garden, along with buzzards and other birds of prey circling overhead. Wildflowers grow freely, wildlife is respected, and the landscape is allowed to be itself. Small, thoughtful touches – like freshly picked flowers – reflect the care Ron and Elaine put into both the farm and their guests’ experience.
More Than a Place to Stay
Aberarthen Farm reflects Ron and Elaine’s lifelong connection to the countryside. It’s a place shaped by experience, care, and a genuine love of the land.
Whether you’re watching red kites glide overhead, walking the fields at sunset, or enjoying the stillness of a West Wales evening, you’re sharing a small part of the life Ron and Elaine have built here – and they’re delighted to welcome you.
